Crows - One To Watch

If you’re a fan of fresh punk rock music Crows are a must see act, in June last year I had the experience of seeing Slaves at The Leadmill with Crows as a support act. Normally support acts are a crowd energiser to prepare for the main act however Crows could’ve easily been the headline themselves. Dark lyrics accompanied by a truly inimitable stage presence enabled this upcoming London based four-piece to generate a huge reaction from the tightly packed venue.

Frontman James Cox inhibits an almost aggressive form on stage and in certain respects, reminded me of the intimidating stage presence that was Ian Curtis. Pure passion pumped through the crowd and I genuinely have never experienced a more impressive performance from a support act.

The future for Crows? I can only imagine the impact they will continue to make amongst audiences, it would be impossible to not connect with this band. Lyrically, Crows cannot be faulted, the power they possess performance wise is intense and their stage presence can only be described as hypnotic. The music industry has been waiting far too long for something as soiled as Crows. ‘Crawling’ pretty much sums up Crows’ sound in approximately 4 minutes, as a personal favourite I find it difficult to compare the sound to anything present. Their latest single release is ‘Whisper’ which didn’t disappoint, beginning with a faster pace and less heavy sound alternating midway through into a tone that reflects the sound of their previous tracks. I truly do hope I have the pleasure of experiencing Crows again, next time with their own support acts.
