MINT: 'NOTHING SEEMS TO GET ME HIGH'

Grimsby based four-piece and lovely friends of mine, Mint, kick back at the world with their latest single ‘Nothing Seems to Get Me High’. Within this latest release Zak Rashid, Sam Chapman, Sam Pawson and Andy Maidens manage to draw upon indie rock influences to create a hectic 2 minutes of punchy stop-start guitar riffs to create an unignorable track.

With all of their previous tunes in mind, I can say that Mint are not one of those bands that fall into the dreaded category of being better when listened through your earphones. The multiple times I have managed to grab a chance seeing them live they perform as greatly as they sound. These boys manage to do that beautiful thing where they engage with the audience so intimately it makes them loveable; both musically and performatively.

I imagine this latest release, ‘Nothing Seems to Get Me High’ will comfortably take its place within their setlist. This eloquently executed track guarantees to pack a punch on their current UK/EU tour – definitely a track I would love to see performed live (tour dates listed below).

After a busy festival season and the recent release of ‘Nothing Seems to Get Me High’, the Mint boys managed to sell out their hometown venue, The Spiders Web, over two nights – echoing the success they’ve had locally. Alongside their current success as a live band – Mint have had plenty of air play recently with BBC Radio 1 which has provided them with exposure not only locally but nationally. As well as that, they were blessed to be labelled ‘Track of The Week’ with Radio X.
